Just as drawing is a necessary foundation to painting, an understanding of color, temperature, and edges is key when painting patterns in a convincing way. In this two day workshop, we will start by setting up a compelling still life that incorporates pattern. We will go beyond repetition and learn how to understand patterns in new ways. We will get to know a palette filled with potent colors such as phthalo green and quinacridone red, and learn how to achieve sensitive, nuanced colors that still retain vitality.
