This 3 hour online demo will focus on how to observe and find “color” in neutrals. Through lecture, as well as a mixing and painting demonstration, approaches on how to achieve active neutrals will be taught.
The recording will be available for 3 months.

Exploring the Chromatic, Finding the Nuance

Void of yellow, blue, and earth tones, explore a portrait palette that can achieve lively color along with sensitivity and nuance. In this 6 week workshop, we will start with a limited palette of two complementary colors and gradually build to my full palette of seven colors plus white:
Cadmium Orange
Cadmium Red Medium
Alizarin Crimson
Quinacridone Red
Phthalo Green
Chromium Oxide
Dioxazine Violet
Titanium White
A hand painted color “field guide” for portraits with all the color mixtures will be mailed to each participant before the workshop starts.

Attendance is required for this workshop. I find working together in real time helps promote lively discussion, a sense of community as well as helps me to better understand and guide each participant’s work.
